About StarKat

StarKat's story began with a bold transition. Initially singing in an electro-pop band, Stewart Gale joined forces with Cris, who wrote songs and played the keyboard before his departure, to form the band now known as StarKat. They recruited Tate on guitar, Aki on bass, and Do on drums. Despite numerous lineup changes, these core members—Stewart, Tate, and Aki—remained dedicated to the band's success. They are now joined by Masayoshi on bass and their new drummer, Josh Brunotte.

Over the years, StarKat has evolved, honing its sound to become edgier and catchier. The band members have grown more proficient with their instruments, resulting in tighter performances and more efficient songwriting. Their music draws from diverse influences, including Sunny Day Real Estate, Smashing Pumpkins, Jimmy Eat World, Weezer, Fugazi, and At the Drive-In. Stewart cites Fountains of Wayne, Idlewild, Manic Street Preachers, Blur, and The Kinks as his inspirations.

StarKat's unique songwriting process begins with Stewart's lyrics, crafted like poems before any music is composed. Tate then develops guitar riffs, and together with the band, they refine these ideas into complete songs. Aki's guitar work and Masayoshi's bass lines add depth to their sound, while Josh's dynamic drumming brings fresh energy to the mix.
