CHAOS & RIOT TOUR 2024
Red Dragon has roared into 2024 with some truly memorable gigs, and the upcoming CHAOS & RIOT TOUR 2024 continues its streak of ground-shaking performances.
You might want to grab tickets for the event this Sunday, April 14.
Featuring Radiots, Anger Flares, and The China Wife Motors. Audiences new to these acts will start by scratching their heads and then by banging them into the venerable walls of this now historic Nagoya live venue in Sakae.
So, who are these acts anyway?
Radiots
Radiots, a dynamic fusion of street punk, Irish folk, and rock 'n' roll, emerged onto the music scene on April 3, 2007. They are composed of Yoshiya on vocals, Anton on bass and vocals, Masasucks on guitar and vocals, and Yuki on drums.
Since its formation, Radiots (a combination of radio and idiots) has consistently performed and recorded, releasing its debut album, "Radiots," on December 10, 2007. Their journey has been marked by relentless touring across Japan and electrifying performances at renowned festivals like R&R Circus and Formoz Festival in Taiwan.
Radiots has been steadfastly dedicated to their craft through lineup changes and challenges. In 2016, they unleashed their fourth album, "Junk Heroes Story," followed by the release of "Cheerio" later that year, showcasing their evolution and resilience.
Since celebrating their 10th anniversary with the explosive event "Wireless Riot" in 2017, Radiots have continued to captivate crowds with their raw energy and unapologetic attitude. Their unwavering commitment to their music and fans has solidified their place on the Japanese punk rock scene.
Anger Flares
With their unapologetic attitude and raw energy, this Tokyo-based band embodies the very essence of Japanese and British punk.
Drawing inspiration from the urban landscape and its struggles, their music reflects the vibrant energy and intensity of Tokyo life, capturing the spirit of rebellion and defiance that defines the punk ethos.
Their electrifying live performances are at the forefront of Anger Flares' sound, where the stage becomes a battleground for their fearless expression. From intimate underground clubs to renowned festivals like the Rebellion Punk Music Festival, Anger Flares leaves audiences writhing with their unrelenting guitar riffs, pounding percussion, and gritty vocals.
Their latest album, "'TIL WE DIE," released in 2020, is a testament to their unwavering commitment to the punk rock genre. Each track is a sonic journey through the streets of Tokyo, echoing the voices of those who refuse to be silenced.
The China Wife Motors
Let's start with the AWESOME name,
Not only does "The China Wife Motors" have one of the best band names EVER, but they come from the gritty outlands of Osaka—Sakai city, to be exact—which leads me to believe that we are dealing with some sonic sorcery.
The China Wife Motors have been igniting stages with their explosive guitar riffs and emotionally charged rhythms since ignition in 2001.
The band is led by Tsunehiko Kajita, alongside bassist Masaki Noda and drummer Toyoaki Nagai. Together, the trio fuses Japanese melodies that seamlessly blend light and darkness.
This lot has paid their dues, having shared the limelight with rock 'n' roll legends like The Zama Shou and Guitar Wolf and supported tours for diverse acts ranging from Dustbox to BOMBSHELL ROCKS.
Their tours in America have included memorable performances alongside LEFT ALONE and FAR FROM FINISHED.
In 2007, they unveiled their debut album, "Hello, Motor City," setting the stage for subsequent releases, including "In the Motor City" and "III." Their discography boasts diverse sounds, from blistering punk anthems to soul-stirring ballads, each bearing the unmistakable imprint of The China Wife Motors' raw energy.
The band's hometown pride shines through in their annual "SAKAI MEETING" festival. This rock extravaganza draws thousands of fans to the streets of Sakai. Each year, the festival grows in scale and significance, cementing The China Wife Motors' legacy as pioneers of their local music scene.
The China Wife Motors show no signs of slowing down. With the release of their latest single, "TEENAGE NERVOUS BREAKDOWN," and the success of "SAKAI MEETING 2022," the band continues to push the boundaries of Japanese Rock 'N' Roll, captivating audiences with their electrifying live performances and unwavering passion for music.

Pro Tip:
Red Dragon has a really chill staff, but don't piss them off by thinking you are at CBGB's. They are just as tough when they need to be.
The Buzz:
This is as good a chance as any to immerse yourself in the Japanese live scene. Sure, these acts aren't new to the scene, but ask yourself: If they were, would they be worth seeing?
