The Good, The Loud, and The Brew-tiful
By Doug Breath
Here's what's going on this weekend:
Friday
Friday is serving up a double-header. Got a craving to make some noise or hang with some creatives? Hit up The HAM JAM at Cedars Music in Sakae. Sing, strum, or just spectate—it's all good.
If you're more of a dance fiend, Popup Palooza is throwing down another International Party with DJs spinning from the 3rd floor up. The word is that it's a legit dance crowd, but I haven't hit it yet, so I can't say for sure. I'm sending you people out to scout it for me—report back and let me know how damaging it is.
Saturday
The Nagoya Players are performing an ingenious version of "Romeo and Juliet" on Saturday and Sunday under the direction of Ana Valdes Lim. Music and dance are incorporated in this adaptation, with original compositions by Ben Dorman and choreography by Jeff Fritch and Valeriya Takazato. If you are into stage performance, this is a good fit – tickets are selling out, so...
After dark, you've got options. "Rock at The Rock" in Sakae is becoming a regular thing, with local legends CEEE2 and Frontier on the decks.
If you're looking for me, I'll be at Slow Blues in Hoshigaoka. It's a tight spot with a big sound. Nigel Grover, 4-Nines, and Dragonfly bring the heat. I wouldn't chance on missing it. This is the go-to event for me this weekend.
Sunday
Forget your hangover and head to BINGE Craft Beer for CRAFTCORE. Travis Finch, that mad genius from Cicada Live, has birthed this unholy union of J-Core and craft brews. My boys in Decasion are gonna turn the BINGE rooftop into a mosh pit. No cover - just pay for as many of the insane selection of alternative brews you can depth charge. Fair warning: you might need a few to stay vertical through this sonic beatdown.
Now, get out there and make some bad decisions. Your future self will thank me later.
Have a good one - Doug
