Residents of a "gaijin" house in the Takaoka area of Nagoya have alerted neighbors to be on the lookout for former occupant Marge McKindle, who is believed to have returned to the local vicinity.
The 42-year-old McKindle, a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, had been evicted by the other six foreign members of the house after she refused to pay rent, shop for food, stop talking about her sinus problems, bathe or change out of the "happi" coat she wore virtually without interruption for the eight months she lived with them.
Apparently, McKindle, an unemployed English Teacher, was spotted at a nearby grocery store and was still wearing the coat along with pink polyester shorts and a pair of "Peter the Rabbit" house slippers.
She appeared to be eating samples of sausages while surreptitiously opening and drinking from various milk cartons.
Former roommate Helen Orton quickly notified other house members that she had seen McKindle at the store and that the suspect appeared to be heading their way. The residents promptly formed a crisis management team designed to prevent McKindle from attempting to return to her former abode and sent out a community-wide red alert.
Residents of the house say that the coat may be a biohazard and suspect their former roommate may have a highly contagious foot infection. Anyone who has seen McKindle is warned not to attempt communication but to call the immigration office immediately.
