Music and Fireworks Together!
Get ready for an amazing evening as Konan commemorates its 70th anniversary with the 2024 Konan Fireworks Display. This Saturday, October 12, the skies above the riverfront near Suito Pia Konan will be illuminated with a stunning combination of light and music.
The display is a carefully coordinated show where vibrant bursts of color move in harmony with a specially selected musical soundtrack, creating an audio-visual experience that enhances the festivities and brings the colorful bursts to life.
Food Stalls and Activities
As with any festival in Japan, there will be a plethora of food stalls and other vendors around the area.
The stalls should start to operate around 16:00 and stay open until the fireworks end. Expect to find a variety of local and traditional foods, including popular items like takoyaki and the hard-to-know-exactly-what-it-is "stuff on a stick."
The occasion also affords visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy a local specialty called 'tamansen'- a popular street food in the Chubu region consisting of a crispy senbei (rice cracker) sandwiched between a fried egg. The dish also includes various toppings such as mayonnaise and okonomiyaki sauce and sometimes additional ingredients like ham, cheese, or even shrimp tempura.
Tips
Bring Cash
Many vendors may not accept credit cards, so cash is essential for purchases at food stalls and shuttle bus fares.
Arrive Early
If you want to get a good spot to view the spectacle and if you plan to park a car, arriving early - like REALLY early - is advised. Spots along the water may offer the best views of the display - but expect it to be crowded.
What to Wear
October evenings can be chilly, so bring adequate clothing to stay comfortable throughout the event.
The Tarp!
Hey, you know those blue tarps you see everywhere? Bring one to sit on / save your spot.
