Mark your calendars and don your greenest attire because on March 16th, the Nagoya St. Patrick's Day Parade is back and ready to shamrock your world!
Rain or shine, this annual celebration promises a pot of gold (er... well, at least beer) at the rainbow's end, nestled right within the Osukannon Shopping Arcade.
What to Expect:
- Free Bagpipe and Fiddle Music: Get ready to tap your toes and dance a jig to the soul-stirring tunes of traditional Irish instruments.
- Free Balloons: Because who doesn't love a colorful balloon bouncing along in the parade?
- Free Postcards: Send a little luck o' the Irish to your friends and family with these charming postcards.
- Free Stickers: Wear your Irish pride on your sleeve (or anywhere else you fancy) with these festive stickers.
Parade lines start forming at 13:45 sharp, and festivities will kick off at 14:00 - so be wary of the time so as not to miss all of the fun.
The (hopefully, but not likely) well-behaved crowd will then stride through the Osukannon shopping district, spreading Irish cheer and goodwill along the way. The aim is to wrap up by 15:00. As is tradition, a few beers may be shared amongst the after crowd at purveyors of such refreshments.
The parade is supported by warm-hearted supporters, including the Osu Shopping District Union, the Irish Network Japan, and the Embassy of Ireland, Tokyo. A big thanks goes out to all who have made this merry event possible year after year.
The event committee is still looking for enthusiastic musicians and spirited parade participants ready to join the craic. Whether you're a fiddler, have an enormous golden harp you feel like dragging around Osu, or are simply eager to show your enthusiasm for all things Irish - drop them a note.
If you are on Facebook, RSVP here for all the latest updates and craic-filled banter.
